Dr. Alexa Boulton

Dr. Alexa Boulton is a Harrison native! She was born and raised in Harrison, MI, and graduated with high honors from Harrison High School in 2005.

She first found her passion for veterinary medicine when she was 5 years old and helped nurse a chicken with a sore leg. From there, her passion only grew as she explored all aspects of the animal world.

She received her bachelor’s degree in animal science from Michigan State University in 2010. Within that time, she began shadowing Dr. Ron Morris (who later became her stepfather in 2013) at Old 27 Veterinary Clinic from 2008-2015.

Additionally, Dr. Boulton participated in a volunteer program in Australia in 2009 learning about ecology and husbandry of the unique wildlife there. She was involved in dairy cattle research as an assistant under Dr. David Beede (MSU), participated in behavioral research involving poultry, and volunteered at local humane societies and zoos in the meantime.

Dr. Boulton was accepted into the veterinary program at the University of Glasgow in 2014 and graduated in 2019. She is board-certified to work in the veterinary field in the US, Europe, UK, Australia, and parts of Asia!

In her spare time she loves to spend time with her husband (who is also a Harrison graduate), two children, and  self-described “heart dog” Gatsby. As a family they love to: camp, swim, cook, read, travel, and eat loads of popcorn.

Dr. Boulton is a firm believer in supporting small businesses and does so whenever possible.
